Per Wikipedia: Porsche's company logo was based on the coat of arms of Free People's State of Württemberg of former Weimar Germany, which had Stuttgart as its capital and became part of Baden-Württemberg after the political consolidation of West Germany in 1949.
The Porsche logo was designed after the coat of arms of Free People's State of Wurttemberg. The logo's designer has never actually discovered however most believe it was designed by either Dr. Ferry Porsche or Max Hoffman in 1952.
The Porsche's company logo is a combination of both, the symbol of the state of Wuerttemberg of former Weimar Germany (today part of Baden-Wuerttemberg), and the symbol of the city of Stuttgart which is the capital of Baden-Wuerttemberg.
