The coniferous regions are the ones where there is large numbers cone shaped trees. Basically, the coniferous region is mostly snowy one. The trees have an inverted cone shape, to prevent snow accumulation on them, which may freeze them to death. Regions of Alps, Kashmir in India, the snowy Himalayas, Andes, etc do come under coniferous region.
