The PCV valve is located in the valve cover. It is a plastic or metal, "L" shaped part which is retained by a rubber grommet and a hose going to the intake attaches to the end coming out of the valve cover. Th PCV valve is removed by pulling it out. NOTE: Sometimes, the rubber grommets get dried and are no longer pliable. This makes it difficult to remove the valve. It is a good idea to replace the grommet at the same time.

The EGR valve, on a 2004 Ford F150 5.4 liter engine, is located on the top of the engine near the back. The valve is difficult to identify without prior mechanical knowledge.

a 2 valve engine , the 3 valve 5.4 L is used in 2004 and newer F-150 Ford trucks

The 1997 Ford F150 4.6 liter engine throttle position sensor is located on the top of the transmission. The sensor will be connected to the fuel injection rail.
