Yes. Scorpions can be found almost everywhere worldwide, and many different species can be found in Australia. I personally have seen many dead on the bottom of pools (they accidentally fall in occasionally), and just as many just walking around at night. I found a tiny one crawling along a wall at my work just the other day! None are medically dangerous however, rest easy.

Yes, scorpions are plentiful in Australia. There are over 100 different species in Australia, with the largest growing to 12 cm, but the average closer to 4cm. Scorpions are found in gardens, bushland, desert areas - almost everywhere. The further north one gets, the more poisonous the scorpions tend to be, but they are not as poisonous as those in other countries. The typical pain from a scorpion sting is similar to a bee sting but the sting of some of the large desert buthids such as Australobuthus Xerolimniorium have a much more intense sting.

Scorpions are common arachnids found in gardens and forests throughout Australia. They are found under logs, rocks and in shallow burrows in earth banks. There are also desert species that construct deep spiral burrows in desert sand. Scorpions are mostly nocturnal but they can be active during the day, especially during prolonged wet weather. Scorpions tend to be larger and more venomous in the northern parts of Australia. The largest Australian scorpions can grow to 12 cm long, but many forest dwellers are only small.
