While not called a Blimp the Brazilian inventor ( living in Paris) Alberto Santos-Dumont had a powered steerable balloon ( using adapted motorcycle engines) in the very early l900"s maybe l902. in l903, he permitted a Girl named Aida Acosta to operate the craft-a later model, called the No.9 on a flight around Paris- no problems. Miss Acosta was the first female Blimp pilot, so to speak-and this was almost six months prior to Kitty Hawk and the Wright Bros pattern of l903. ( which only lasted l2-l5 seconds). the Blijmp flight was a good twenty minutes or more.
