New born pups need plenty of rest. I know its hard to keep your hands off them because they are so darn cute. It would not hurt to pick them up once in a while so they get use to humans, but mostly you should let them rest. After their eyes open and they start moving around you will have plenty of time to play with them. They themselves will let you know.

When the newborn puppy is strong enough to hold it's head up by it self, then you can hold it!
