where is fill plug located on 1994 mustang gt, rear diff
there is no actual drain plug on the rear diff. the fill plug is on the right side of the diff just above the gusset it takes a 3\8 ratchet to remove it then u need a vacuum pump to remove the 80\90 gear lube otherwise you must remove the rear diff cover to fully drain the rear diff also you will need a new gasket for that as well
That's right, no drain plug back there. To change the lube you need to remove the diff cover.
First check the level of the lube in the rear differential. If it is low add the correct weight lube. If not, then you have worn gears. Also check your rear wheel bearings as that is what you may be hearing.
If I remember correctly the 80/90 is recommended for the front diff only and the rear takes a 140 weight. The front diff is free rolling most of the time and doesn't work as hard or brake down and heat the fluid like the rear does. I'd certainly not recommend putting that light oil in the rear diff.
THere is a fill plug located approximately 2\3rd up from bottom. fill differential with Diff oil until level with bottom of the plug.
It locks the rear diff, thats all
yes it is. to check look for the big diff in the rear axle. big diff? a large round metal casing.

there is 2 different ways to change the fluid this is a drain plug on the front of the rear diff or you can take the back of the pumpkin off on the rear diff.
Dana 44 front diff and 9.25 rear diff
