As a comic strip and originally block cartoon ( one block per day) it was irrelevant for marketing reasons- Dennis was syndicated all over the United States. It might be noted some juvenile comedy shows did have tied-down stakes, so to speak. I seem to recall that Leave it to Beaver was set in the Chicago area, based on somewhat heavier togs worn by characters, I vaguely recall some dialogue suggesting this. My Three Sons was in suburban California. Dennis, it was not relevant to the plot.
