What does water saltness mean and?
Think of swimming. How your body stays afloat is usually because
it is lighter than the water that it displaces. For some people
with very very little body fat, if they stop swimming they will
sink but for most of us we dont.
Now think what would happen if the water was heavier? You would
float higher in the water because you would weight even less in
water so-to-speak
Now, how does water become heavier? By adding in things like
salt. So the more salt there is in water, the easier it is to swim
in it and the higher you will float in it.
If you were to swim in pool filled with pure clean distilled
water, you would have to swim the hardest to stay above the
water.
If you swim in salt water like ocean water, you float higher in
the water.
If you swim in salt water like the Great Salt Lake in Utah, then
you float relatively high in the water.
