No, not all metal music is violent. Yes, some can be, but there is also metal music that isn't violent at all. Just as you can find variations of almost everything, there's also variations of metal.. You can even find Christian metal with Christian lyrics that has no violent within.. So, while there IS metal music with violence and/or suicidal lyrics etc; there is also some that has none of that. This is a common misconception although, due to certain popular metal bands... So no worries! :)

Well, I listen to bands like Bring Me The Horizon, Asking Alexandria, Chelsea Grin etc. Some of their songs do have violent/explicit lyrics. However, it's not them telling you to go do something bad or against the law, or go beat the crap out of someone for no reason. In my opinion, no, music lyrics don't promote violence.
