Canada has a mixed economy. It can also sometimes be called a consumer-based economy, or a demand economy. This means that goods and services are produced based on demand: what consumers are willing to buy and the prices we are willing to pay. A demand economy is a capitalist system in which government does not intervene.

Yes. A market economy is one in which owners of capital are free to produce whatever quantities of any goods and services for which they believe there is a market. They are then free to sell their goods and services at whatever price the market will provide, without government interference.

Of course, a 'pure' market economy does not exist. Governments will always interfere when they believe the market is not working efficiently, resulting perhaps in excessive prices being charged or limited resources being allocated inappropriately.

Within the constraints of responsible government, Canada is a market economy.

Another Answer

No, Canada has a mixed economic system. It has some principles of a market economy, and some of a command (planned) economy.

Another Answer (Supplement)

NO, Canada has a mixed economic system, because governments helps the market in some way, in order to maintain the economy of Canada.

Canada has a mixed economy. A mixed economy is that where the production is determined by supply and demand. In command economies, the government decides what everybody produces and sells.
