How can sound waves refract in different mediums?
Sound waves can refract in different mediums due to changes in the speed of sound caused by variations in temperature, pressure, and density. When a sound wave enters a medium with a different speed of sound, it can change direction, bending towards or away from the normal line, which is the imaginary line perpendicular to the interface between the two mediums.
