The lowest possible SAT score is a 200 on each section or a 600 (400 on the old SAT).

When the SAT is graded everybody receives a raw score on each section

ex. 56/67

The ets (educational testing service) then takes into account all scores to determine how difficult the test was on the specific date on which you took it. They then curve it appropriately on a scale of 200-800. They curve it so that the average score is a 500.

The highest possible score is an 800 on each section or a 2400 (1600 on the old SAT)

Interestingly the ets curves the test so that there are more 2400's than 600's.

There's no passing or failing for the SAT test. Colleges accept various scores. The best score is 2400 and the lowest score anyone can get by missing every single question is a 600. Generally top-tier colleges accept 2250 to 2400 scores. It really depends on the college in question.

The minimum SAT score is 200. If you turn in a test sheet with every question marked incorrectly, you will get 200.

That's a per-section score. On the traditional 2-section test, the lowest combined score is 400, and on the modern 3-section test, the lowest combined score is 600.

Every college says they don't actually have minimum SAT scores required for entrance, but frankly, if you've got a 600 combined, you should probably be looking for work in the exciting world of manual labor rather than considering college.

You want to be above 1800 generally. Writing is the least important section as many colleges only care about the verbal (critical reading) and math sections. If you're trying to get into a state school, you should be fine with anything above 1450 so long as you got decent grades in high school.

The minimum marks required in the SAT exam for entrance to a university vary by school. On average you will need 1400 to 1500 to gain acceptance to most schools. You can score as low as 1250 and still get into colleges with excellent volunteering records and a good GPA.

The lowest score you can get is a 600. You get 200 for each of the section (there are two sections), and you get 200 for writing your name. 200 multiplied by 3 is 600.
