The metric system is a way to measure using multiples of 10. Scientists use the metric system so that all the data is te same no matter where you are to be able to compare data

[ADDED} That is correct but the questions says "metrics" and those are not quite the same thing as the "Metric System", which derives the name from the length unit, "metre". Metrics is a rather vague term best described as stating what is being measured and by what system, and appears to be used more in administration than in science to assess performance etc. for which there are no formal dimensions.
