around 6.5 months After a successful mating, there is delayed implantation of about 6 months. The female has about 2 months to put on 440 lbs. of blubber before entering her maternity den. Gestation Embryonic growth is about 2 months but gestation is 240-270 due to delayed implantation. the average weight of a pregnant polar bear is 650 pounds to 730 pounds
The gestation period (time of pregnancy) for a bear is 180-270 days.
The exact/accurate gestation period is not known but it is around 8 months. Each litter has 2 cubs and sometimes even 3. Cubs weigh around 10 to 15 kilograms (22 to 33 pounds) at birth. Cubs stay with the mother for around 2 to 3 years of their life and then go away.
After mating there is a delayed growth period of about four months. This "delayed implantation" allows the mother time to acquire her full birthing weight, almost an additional 450 pounds on average, and then give birth during the best time of year for the cubs survival. The actual period for "embryonic development" is about four months. So, the total time from mating, and fertilization, to birth is right at eight months. For more details, see sites listed below.

Polar bears breed in the spring and early summer which results in a fertilized egg (zygote) which floats free in the uterus until fall. At that time if the mother has adequate resources to carry the cub(s) to term, the egg will implant (aka delayed implantation). This implanted egg develops rapdily into a cub which is born around the first of the year, at least in Alaska resulting in an actual developmental period of 3-4 months in the womb. Mothers give birth from 1-4 cubs, the average being a bit more than 2. Singletons are common, triplets rare and quadruplets exceedingly rare, only having been reported in the literature a time or two. Newborn cubs wight 1-2 kg at birth; they eyes are closed and hearing not yet functional. They nurse for another 2 months until the mother breaks out of the den. After den breakout, cubs and mothers may remain at the den site anywhere from hours to weeks. The longest reported time post-breakout is 26 days before abandoning.

Polar bears have a gestation period of six months. Black bears have a 255 day gestation period but only the last 55-60 days are really a pregnancy. Bears have a delayed implantation period so bears can mate at various times but the female only gets pregnant if she develops enough weight to successfully carry the babies.
