try disconnecting gauge cluster
10-40w
Sounds like a dead battery. Try charging the battery, then start.
No, it will not fit. While it would physically fit it has differernt sensor hook ups and won't work properly. 99-02 Sportsman 400 and 500 share the same transmission. I am not sure about 03-up.
I have a 1999 sportsman 500 and it done the same thing. The problem was the camshaft lobe wore off. The new camshafts are updated to correct this problem, they have a extra oil passage in them.
look at the 10th didit in the serial number and if it is a 2000 it will be a y if it is a 2001 or newer it will have the number designation ie a 2002 will be the number 2 in the 10th spot hope this helps Scott
Polaris - Kangta album - was created on 2001-08-19.
i had the same exact problem with my 2001 polaris sportsman 400. It is either your voltage regulator or your stator. With your ATV running disconnect the positive terminal on your battery. IF the ATV quits instantly then its probably your stator.
