A Bailey in a Motte and Bailey castle would be used to put the stables, guard room, blacksmith etc...

The Normans were the first to start building the motte and baileys they probably used them in Normandy in France and used them when they invaded England

Motte and Bailey castles are made out of wood and mud. They used wood because it was cheap and was easy to build with. Also, it only took a few weeks to construct. There are also dissadvantages to building with wood aswell: It rots quickly, it sets on fire easily and also can be knocked down quite easily.
Cambridge castle no longer exists as it wasn't in use and was demolished so that the castle's materials could be used in other nearby buildings. It was however, a motte and bailey castle.

They built castles all around the Country. The castles got most the English men under control. The few that they hadn't got under control led rebellians to try and destroy one of the Normans' castle. The castles were too powerful and always overpowered the rebellers.
the tunnels were used for storing food because it was cool and as an escape route.I have never been heard of them being used as a way to set the castles on fire but i would have been motte and bailey castle because they were made of wood.
