Punk rock or punk is music stule developed in '70ties, XX century. Some bands you might heared about: The Ramones, Sex Pistols, The Clash, NOFX, GBH... PunK Rock is strictly a music and should not be afiliated with any group unless they just so happen to listen to the music.
punk rock is about doing what you want and not caring about what others think. you can say whatever you believe in a punk song and make it rock. personally, punk rock is my favorite kind of music. It is about expressing dissatisfaction with the stupid aspects of society, and it is about having fun music that isn't disco or rap or formulaic heavy metal, but real rock 'n roll.
Punk music is usually aboutnonconformity and anti-politics, pro-life, the list goes on and on. Bands like NOFX, The Exploited, Sex Pistols area all about Anti-America, Anti-Racism, and anything that the previous presidents really believe hence the whole Anti-America/ Anti-Politics thing. There are also bands like The Misfits and Balzac which are a sub genre known as Horror-Punk. The music there is about murder, rape, past presidential assassinations, like JFK, or Abraham Lincon. I hope this answer helps you.
In essence, punk music is just pop music played really loud and hard and fast. At the time when punk music got started (late '60s to early '70s), Rock Music had become very stale; it was all about long solos and using 12 different guitars. It was extravagant and pretentious. And the culture surrounding it -- the hippie ideals like peace and love and everybody being nice to everybody else -- seemed trite, unrealistic, namby-pamby, and doomed to failure. Punk rock was a rebellion against all that. It was a return to simple 3-minute rock tunes, like the songs Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Bo Diddly, etc. did in the '50s, but really loud and hard and fast.
Bands like the Ramones were heavily influenced, not just by early rock music, but by the bubblegum pop music of the sixties. Early rock & roll was very similar to pop music: the songs were 3 to 4 minutes long, with a catchy melody, and a standard verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-verse-chorus structure. That simple song structure came to define not just pop and early rock music, but punk rock music as well.
So, since punk music is basically just pop music played very loud and hard and fast, punk pop is just music that is somewhere in between pop music and punk rock. It has the same catchy melody and verse-chorus-verse-chorus structure that punk and pop music share, but it is neither as tame, saccharine and synthetic-sounding as pop music, nor as aggressive, angry, nihilistic, and full of bad attitude as punk music.
Blink 182 is the perfect example of a punk pop band. Their songs have much more energy, attitude and subversive lyrics than Britney Spears' songs, but they are not nihilistic and brimming with anger like the Ramones or the Sex Pistols.
