Nathaniel Alexander filed a drawing of a folding chair for patent #997,108, which was issued on 7/4/1911. The key difference of his chair from others is that it had a folding book rest on the back, which could be used by the person sitting in the row behind.
I was unable to find any biographical information. He definitely was a different person from the Nathaniel Alexander who was an earlier governor of Virginia.
Please be more specific, as there are three very famous Nathaniel Alexanders.
