in order to stop the repetitive closure of the circuit breakers, anti pumping relay scheme is used. i.e suppose that an operator gives a close command to the breaker(via some switch), now the fault occurs, the breaker would tend to clear the fault and open the contacts. But since the operator has given the close command, it would cause closing of breaker again and again.. so anti pumping relay is used to ensure that this does not happen!

The anti-pumping scheme of a circuit breaker is a mechanism that prevents repeated closing and opening of the breaker in quick succession, which could lead to overheating and damage. It typically involves a time delay feature that prevents the breaker from immediately reclosing after it has tripped. This helps protect the circuit breaker and the electrical system from potential harm.

What is a Circuit breaker and explain type circuit breakers?

A circuit breaker is an electrical device that automatically interrupts the flow of electricity in a circuit when it detects a fault or overload, to protect the circuit from damage. There are several types of circuit breakers, including thermal, magnetic, and gas-insulated circuit breakers, which operate based on different principles to ensure the safe operation of electrical systems.

Is a circuit breaker a resistor?

No, a circuit breaker is not a resistor. A circuit breaker is a safety device that automatically interrupts electrical flow in a circuit to protect against damage or fire caused by overloads or short circuits. Resistors, on the other hand, are components that introduce resistance to control the flow of current in a circuit.

What is a generator breaker?

The generator circuit breaker or gcb is a circuit breaker which is connected with the generator . Whenever there is a fault in the generator the circuit breaker trips and disconnects the generator from operation thus it helps the place from a serious accident etc..

What does a draw out circuit breaker mean?

A draw-out circuit breaker is a type of circuit breaker that can be easily removed from its housing for maintenance or replacement without having to shut down the entire system. This feature allows for quick and convenient access to the circuit breaker for servicing purposes.

What is operation of an antihunting relay in circuit breaker?

This is also called anti pumping relay. for understanding you have to understand the working of breaker. positive extends to "Low Pressure Lockout" & "Low Pressure Alarm". after maintain the pressure in breaker these NO becomes NC and when breaker closes the auxiliary of breaker get closed and simultaneously extend the positive to the antipumping relay coil by auxiliary contact. by this coil get energised and holding contact get connected and the one of the contact of antipumping coil (NC) become NO which disconnect the command supply of main breaker. by this till when the antipumping relay get energised no further command (+ve) extends to breaker closing coil. This is Antipumping/ Antihunting Relay.

What must you know before you change a circuit breaker?

Before you change a circuit breaker it has to be established that the breaker is at fault and not some other part of the circuit.
