First of all, the correct statement is Jazaak Allahu Khairan. If you do not ad the Khairan, then what you are saying is either may Allah reward you, or may Allah punish you.

Khairan means "good", so you are asking that Allah rewards a person with good.

But the word Jazaa' alone can be for reward or punishment, as it simply means "recompense".

The proper response to Jazaak Allahu Khairan (May Allah reward you with good)is: Wa Iyyaak ( and to you).

Is spirit vinegar halal or haraam?

it is halal...see this link for an answer from a scholar (very important we take knowledge from "authorities" - we wouldn't accept advice on serious medication from a random person only from a qualified one like a doctor. So our religion should be taken more seriously). JazakAllah Khair http://spa.qibla.com/issue_view.asp?HD=1&ID=2774&CATE=239

Where does it state in the Quran not to smoke or drink?

To what i have heard, smoking is makrooh (close to haram) and drinking is forbidden. There are three types of people Allah (swt) will not forgive, one being a person who drinks alcohol. The best advice i would give you is to seek your answers and question your questions to the ulama, the elders or local imams. The internet is not safe, i only wrote this to give you a small note about whats right and wrong. Inshallah i hope this has helped, jazakallah. Answer: Brother, you made a BIG mistake in what you wrote, above. The ONLY sin that Allah does not forgive is Polytheism - Shirk.

Who is the caliph with the shortest rule in history?

Umayyad Caliph Ibrahim ruled for a few weeks at the end of the year 744 C.E. This is the shortest reign of any Caliph. If you are referring to the Rightly-Guided Caliphs, Hassan ibn Ali ruled as Caliph for seven months in 661 C.E. before ceding power to Mu'awiya and conceding the end of the the Rightly-Guided Caliphs. Of the four dominant Rightly-Guided Caliphs, colleague Ibrahim El-Osery is correct that Abu Bakr ibn Quhafah reigned for the the shortest amount of time, 27 months from 632 C.E. to 634 C.E.

Are you allowed to keep parrots as pets in Islam?

There is not a torture here for these kinds of birds/budgies. These birds/budgies have a structure which is suitable to live in a cage. They are not harmed because they are fed and looked after.. Also an incident takes place lighting up this issue on the time of our prophet. Little brother of Anas Ibn Malik used to have a little bird. Once when Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) saw this little kid he asked him "What happened to the birdie?" 3. We understand from this that it is ok to have a bird. There are even texts which may be taken to mean that it is permissible to keep them so long as one gives them food and drink. Al-Haafiz ibn Hajar said in his commentary Fath al-Baari, among his list of the things that we learn from this hadeeth: … It is permissible for young children (or any other aged) to play with birds, and it is permissible for parents to allow their children to play with things with which it is permissible to play, and it is permissible to spend money on permissible things which will amuse young children, and it is permissible to keep birds in cages and the like, and to clip the birds of wings - because one of the two must have applied in the case of Abu 'Umayr's bird, and whichever was the case, the ruling also applies to the other. Additionally there is NO text in Islam to say that it is haraam to sell them, this statement is complete garbage. There are many more examples, but I think its crystal clear that it is permissible. جزاك اللهُ خيراً‎ (Jazakallah Khayran)
