I saw a video of a juvenile chimpanzee being chased by a dog. It ran (on all fours) 50 meters in 7.64 seconds. That's almost 15 mph. An adult chimp may be faster. There are claims of speeds of 25 mph to 29 mph on the internet, but none of them provide evidence of this actually happening.

All great apes are on average the same speed ; anywhere between 24- 29 mph.

Some people say that we come from apes so I'm guessing that if we were from apes that apes run the same pace as us. :)

Humans are apes but we can run WAY faster. Humans top speed is 40mph (64.3kmph). Apes can run 4.2mph (6.8kmph) and 5.6mph (9kmph). Thats nowhere near a humans top speed.
