There is what's called "wheeking", which is a happy one but mainly when they are trying to get you're attention and want food - also a sign of excitement.
There is the purr, which has two meanings: happy/contentment, you may hear this when you stroke or cuddle the Guinea Pig. The purr makes them vibrate as well. However, they also make this sound when they hear something they don't like, mainly high pitched sounds like a bell or clap - anything shrill.
There is another type of purring which is longer and comes with a wriggly sort of Dana - that's mainly from boys when they can smell a female or sometimes try to mount another boy. This is normal behaviour. When a female behaves like this, they are in season and only lasts about 12-16 hours.
Another sound they make is a more distressed one, almost like a yelp accompanied with a screeching sound. This is when another pig is upsetting them by, for example, invading their personal space. It's just the pig shouting at the other.
Another one my lot do is a whining/whinging sound, which means the same as the previous one above.
They can make so many different sounds, but I've pointed out the usual/common ones. It's funny how you actually can sense what they're sounds mean naturally. You will know by the tone of each one.
its a sound a guinea pigs makes that means its angry.
They got their name because when first discovered by Europeans guinea pig's made a high screeching sound like a pig.
No it does not relate to New Guinea. Europeans sold them for about a guinea, an ancient currency. The pig part comes from the fact that they sound like pigs.

If you are lazy with proper storage of guinea pig food, and do not clean up spilt food than yes, guinea pigs can potentially attract mice. To avoid this from happening, keep all guinea pig food tightly closed and off the ground. It is also a good idea to vacuum the ground around your guinea pig's cages regularly.
yeah you could but i would because if it bright colours it might attract cats!
Guinea Pigs are not from New Guinea, as many people think, they are actually from South America where they were roasted for food. They sold them for one Guinea (money) hence, the Guinea part in Guinea Pig. Also they sound like snorting pigs hence, the Pig part in Guinea Pig.For more information go to Guinea Pig Lnyx

It is spelled "guinea pig". You got it right! :)
Guinea pigs often make a purring sound when they are content or happy, similar to a cat's purr. However, if a guinea pig makes a "growling" sound, it may indicate that they are feeling threatened, scared, or uneasy. It's important to observe their body language and the context in which the sounds are made to understand their feelings better.
Tell her you dont mean to sound rude but...
