Generally, it's an accoustic guitar which also has electronics built into it so that it can be plugged into an amp if you want to. But you don't *need* to, it's a fully-functional accoustic guitar if you don't.

It may be that your chimney is just clogged and only needs to be swept, not repaired. A chimney sweep can do this for you and you can find one through the National Chimney Sweep Association. If it actually needs repair then the chimney sweep will be able to tell you that as well and can fix it or refer you to someone else who can repair it.
