A bar chart is an arrangement of bars of different lengths to represent values, laid out horizontally. They are typically used to graphically illustrate the different values in a spreadsheet, and how they compare to other related values. Different bars are different colours and can be labelled to show what they correspond to. You can also have groups of bars of similar kinds, so the the same colour may be repeated in sets. You can also have stacked bar charts, where different parts of one bar are made up of different colours, to show how much the contribute to a total. See the links below for examples.
It is a conditional formatting technique, introduced in Excel 2007, that automatically draws a bar in a cell whose length corresponds to the value of a specified cell or range of cells. Cells or ranges with a larger value would generate a bar that is longer.
See related links for some data bar improvements coming in Excel 2010.
It is a standard bar chart where each bar stands for a value for a category and the different categories bars are clustered together. So say you had sales for four different regions for each month of the year. For each month there would be four bars. Those four bars would be all together, touching. There would be a gap between each month. So the sets of four bars would be clustered for each month.
It is the horizontal line at the bottom of the chart.
Change the chart type to be a Column Chart.
No. A sparkline is a chart confined to a single cell. There is a column chart form of sparkline and also a line chart form, but not a bar chart form. A bar chart is a chart with horizontal bars and is one of the standard types of chart available in Excel.
To create a bar graph in Microsoft Excel, select the data you want to include in the chart. Then, go to the "Insert" tab, click on "Bar Chart" icon, and choose the desired bar chart type. Excel will automatically generate a bar graph based on the selected data.
First you need to have the correct kind of data that is appropriate for the chart. Then you select it. You can then start the chart wizard and choose the chart you want. You can also select the data and then press the F11 key.
It brings together two charts. For example, it can combine a line chart and a bar chart.
In Excel a Gantt chart is the equivalent of a bar chart. Having put in the data you need into the spreadsheet, you then start the Chart Wizard, by either going to the Insert menu and picking the Chart option or clicking on the Chart Wizard icon on the standard toolbar. Then you can pick the bar chart and continue with the process of creating your chart with the Chart Wizard. There are various options you can pick. Which ones you use will be down to your own preferences.

If your comment is in reference to Excel, both types of charts are just as easy to calculate.
Excel does not automatically calculate and display the mean in a bar chart. You can add the mean following these steps:Enter your data points (EXAMPLE: A1:A23).In cell A24 (or whatever cell is at the bottom of your data), enter the formula =AVERAGE(A1:A23).Highlight all the cells (A1:A24) and use that as the data to create your chart.Format your chart as you like.Observe that the last entry in the chart will be the MEAN.If the bar chart already exists and you do not have access to the original in Excel, then you will need to add up all the values of all the bars and divide by the number of bars on the chart.
