What happens in chapter16 of the Lightning thief?

After the bus is destroyed, Percy, Annabeth, and Grover go to "Aunty Em's Garden Gnome Emporium", where they get greeted by a Middle eastern woman. Aunty Em offers to take their picture, but Annabeth gets uneasy. They try to escape and they realize that she is Aunty M, and the M stands for Medusa! They battle her while Grover continuously kicks her from a tree. Percy then cuts her head off. Annabeth can't because Medusa's rival is her mother, Athena. Percy sends the head to Mount Olympus.

In chapter twelve of The Lightning Thief, Grover, Annabeth and Percy have to camp out in the woods where there is a lot of litter. Percy wants to take the first "watch" but Grover is upset. The litter is bothering him because the Wild is very important to satyrs. He tells Percy that satyrs have been searching for the great god Pan for years. He tells Percy about a voice heard by a sailor off the coast of Ephesos that said "'Tell them that the great god Pan has died!'" He also tells Percy that Annabeth thought the monsters that were attacking were holding back and the Furies seemed to be saying "'Where is it? Where?'" referring to a thing, not a person on the bus. Grover also mentions that Percy sent Medusa's head to Olympus because he wanted recognition from his father, not because he was trying to anger the gods. Percy got angry and went to sleep, and had another dream about the dark chasm with the voice laughing at him. When he woke up Percy saw Grover holding a pink poodle that Grover could understand. The poodle was missing and the reward for it was 200 dollars. The poodle knew that they needed a ride west, so he told them about an Amtrak station. They returned the poodle and bought the tickets west.
