What happened inside the secret annex?

The Franks and Van Daans (Van Pels) lived a somewhat normal life, though they had to be completely silent until the workers left. Margot, Anne, and Peter studied and read books. They also cooked food, told stories, and many other things they would have done in a normal life. However, food and supplies had to be sneaked in by helpers, and they had to live cautiously, as they could be discovered at any time.

In September of 1944, the Frank family was sent to Auschwitz. Anne, her sister, and mother were spared for being sent to the gas chambers and assigned to a work detail. In October of 1944, Anne and her sister were sent to Bergen Belsen, a concentration camp in northwestern Germany. In March of 1945, Anne and her sister Margot would die during a typhus epidemic that swept through the camp.
