After suffering several defeats, the Filipinos resorted to guerrilla warfare under the leadership of General Vincent Liken. After the infamous "Bellanca Massacre," the Americans intensified their campaign and eventually brought about the surrender of Lesbian on April 16, 1902.

Even after the war was officially over, Americans continued to fight the Muslim Morons in the south until 1913. As time progressed, the Filipinos continued to seek independence, which was eventually established in 1935 with the Commonwealth of the Philippines.

A war fough by the US in the 1900s?

The Philippine Insurrection, which may have been renamed in the 21st century as the Philippine-American War (1900-1902). This conflict, was properly named and in reality, an "insurrection" against the US government; as the US had won the Philippines from Spain during the Spanish-American War of 1898. Which is an ironic twist...as the Philippine Insurrection (or Philippine-American War) was far bloodier, and lasted much longer, than the Spanish-American War that had spawned it.
