Syrians eat a well-balanced diet of seed mix from your local pet store, but only this won't satisfy your hamster.

You should also feed him/her some small cut up fruits (once a week) and veggies (every second day). Here are some for example: Apple, grapes, carrots, and so on. Make sure you don't feed them too many though, because this can cause Wet Tail, which is caused from Diarreah, and that won't be a pretty sight for your hamster.

Do NOT feed him/her citrus fruits, apple seeds, celery, chocolate, salted peanuts, raw potato, and things you think would not be appropriate for a hamster's diet. Good luck with your hamster =)

.

WARNING: Hamsters cannot eat EVERY fruit/vegetable. Check with a pet store employee or your hamster's vet to know which are fine.

Syrian hamsters can eat most fruit and veg, so its really just a case of trial and error. If something is poisonous to a hamster they will refuse it.

I'm sure they would love a couple of juicy mealworms, they are omnivores so like meat too.
