It means they haven't shipped it yet.
Amazon sometimes seems to "punish" people who choose cheaper shipping options by holding onto the item for several days. (Actually, it's most likely more a matter of warehouse logistics, and not a deliberate attempt to extort money from customers, but it can sure feel like they're punishing you.)
In other words, it's not safe to think to yourself "It's shipping from across town, why should I pay for overnight delivery? It'll get here the day after it's shipped even if I choose the cheapest ground transportation option."
Surprise - while it probably will arrive the day after it's actually shipped, it probably won't be shipped for possibly as long as a week.
This happened to something I ordered; the article was listed as "in stock" and "standard" delivery was quoted as five to seven days, which was fine.
However, when a week had gone by and the article hadn't even been shipped yet, I got understandably upset and complained. To their credit, Amazon did send the item expedited the day after I complained about it so that it was only a couple of days past the "five to seven days" mark.
