People of Czech Republic are mostly used to have two bigger meals during the day, lunch and dinner.

For breakfast they eat bread rolls or sourdough bread with butter, ham, cheese, salami, pate or jam, drink coffee or tea.

Soup is usually eaten for lunch, either bouillon with vegetable and noodles or vegetable (tomato, spinach, leek, potato) soup. Also soup with meat like goulash soup is popular. Second course consists usually of slice of meat with potatoes (boiled or mashed), stew, or sauces with rice or dumplings. Pork, chicken and beef is eaten most often. It is also quite common to eat a sweet meal as a main course - dumpling filled with fruits, pancakes, rice pudding, small pastries with white wine sauce etc.

Dinner is very similar to lunch, except there's usually no soup.

Some popular meals are:

Pork meat with cabbage and dumplings

Goulash with dumplings

Fried cheese with tartar sauce and potatoes/fries

Roast chicken or duck

Roast beef in cream sauce with dumplings and cranberries

Schnitzel with potatoes/mashed potatoes

Czech cooks sometimes create weird variations of foreign meals (spagetti with ketchup, "Chinese" food...)
