Brahman is an impersonal form of God (the Supreme). The multiple gods (small g) are not supreme beings but evolved beings with divine qualities. The gods are servants of God.

The Hindu gods relate to Brahmin like he is the head or so-called "leader" of them. He is often likened to being the equivalent to "God."

Perhaps by being many the people have a wider base in which to choose the Gods or Goddesses that they are personally drawn to in order to experience the Transcendent.
