William Penn did not "discover" a colony. He founded the colony that became Philadelphia and the state of Pennsylvania He was a very involved Quaker and when his father died the King owed his father money so he gave him a land grant for the land we call Pennsylvania. The colony he founded was one of the first to work and protect the native Americans of the area. He signed a peace treaty with them.
