I live in Banff. It has the highest city/town elevation in Canada at approx. 4,700 ft ASL. Although one of the highest landmarks are nearby in Kananaskis Country with Highway 40 at approx. 7,000 ft ASL. The highest point on the Trans Canada highway is halfway between Calgary and Banff at approx. 4,600 ft. ASL.
whoever answered this do you know the cities with the highest elelvation in Latin America?
Whoever answered this is also giving incorrect information.. the highest point on the TransCanada AS STATED on the transcanada website is in Kicking horse Pass (BC / Aberta Border) being 1643m where as what THIS above person stated is only 1410m.
So as usual, someones 'bull' crap mis-informs the 'learning'
The highest city in Canada is Kimberley British Columbia. (3 642 ft\ 1 110 m)
The second highest city in Canada is Airdrie Alberta. (3 573 ft\ 1089 m)
p.s. My dad has surveyed in both cities... :)
This question wants to know which "city" and a city is generally understood to have a population of a certain amount, say arbitrarily over 6,000 people (although I cannot find a Cdn. reference that actually states at what population a town becomes a city).
Populated communities in Canada by HIGHEST ELEVATION:
Lake Louise, Alberta: 5,449 feet (1661 m) - Pop. 777
Banff, Alberta: 4,537 feet (1383 m) - Pop. 6,700
Elkford, British Columbia: 4,265 feet (1300 m) - Pop. 3,000
Sparwood, British Columbia: 3,740 feet (1140 m) - Pop. 3,618
Kimberley, British Columbia: 3,663 feet (1110 m) - Pop. 6,139
Airdrie, Alberta: 3,573 feet (1089 m) - Pop. 39,822
Lake Louise is considered a hamlet; a small settlement with less than 300 homes). Banff still calls itself a town as do Elkford and Sparwood. Kimberley refers to itself as a "small city" (?) yet their population is less than the town of Banff.
So Kimberley would be the highest "small city" but three other towns and a hamlet are higher in elevation, and Airdrie has the largest population but ranks sixth in elevation.

Logan is still getting higher because it is in one of the most tectonically active areas in Canada. According to the Geological Survey of Canada, the exact elevation of Mount Logan is still unknown. Although uplift is still occurring, current estimates of its elevation range from 5950 to 6050 meters.
