It is usually caused by excessive blow by out of the crankcase. Blow by is usually caused by worn/cracked rigs or a hole in the piston. The fastest test to see if yo haveworn rings is to hold on the brake put it in drive and give i gas while holding on the brake and see if you have smoke ot of wherete pcv vale should be. if you do it proably means you nead a rebuild or a new motor. I know because i just had this problem with a 454.
bad pcv valve Blow by
You can just blow into both sides. it's a one way valve.
Blow by. Oil will come out where you don't want it to.
It is very important to change PCV valve. If valve is old it will plug or seize. This will cause oil pressure to rise and may cause leaks. Most likely the valve cover gaskets will leak if PCV valve is plugged.
A bad PCV valve can cause the engine to smoke. The valve is easy to change in most engines to correct the problem.
Normal, you get a little blow back from the PCV valve system...
valve guides and oil rings are most likely worn but a pcv valve can be stuck and blow blue smoke
put on a new PCV valve.
No, the only thing a dirty PCV valve will cause is a build-up of gas pressure inside the engine which make seals and gaskets fail.
If the vacuum hose connected to the PCV valve was disconnected, it would idle poorly if at all, otherwise, no.
yes. if the valve is plugged or stuck closed, oil can be sucked into the intake through the pcv breather.
I'm not a mechanic / technician but I believe that a plugged PCV valve or hose will cause oil to blow through the engine oil dipstick
