check your spark plugs for white residue, also you will be burning coolant fast
Bad spark plugs can indeed cause an engine to idle rough. If any of the spark plugs are misfiring or are not producing enough of a spark to ignite the fuel, then not only will the engine idle roughly, it will alwso waste gas. If may seem as though it is running fine when you are driving however, you still may be wasting gas and your pickup may not be as fast as it should.
This sled was meant to run hard and fast you probably are fouling out your spark plugs.
No each spark plug takes turns at making a spark. If the firing order is 1342 then they spark in that order while 1 is sparking the others are not. The plugs spark when the piston is up on the compression stroke and not all pistons are compressing at the same time. Though this happens very fast, but I still think they are not all sparking at the same time.
You need to specify whether petrol or diesel. Worn spark plugs(petrol) or faulty heater plugs(diesel) can affect starting,as can the battery if the engine is not cranking fast enough or insufficient amps to provide a good spark when cranking.
On a waste spark system you should use double platinum plugs. Because the cylinders fire on the compression stroke on the positive side and the exhaust stroke on the negative side, copper plugs would burn out very fast. As an example, double platinum plugs are advertised as 100,000 plugs, but I wouldn't go past 50,000 miles due to the possibility of the plug getting stuck in the engine. The copper plug on the same engine would only go about 15,000 miles. Based on the locations of the plug applications on various vehicles, I would not want to change plugs every 15,000 miles.
one way to do it s to get an in depth service manual and take a multimeter to the electrical system or you could just unplug the spark plugs but not remove them, and plug in a set of spare plus into the spark plug wires and ground them to check for a spark. if it is sparking just fine, then it could be a timing or a fuel problem or the engine could just not be spinning fast enough to start
Yes... yes it does. For that matter, the Earth's heat causes some atoms to move so fast that they "crash into each other."
NO! Just check the spark plugs; the fuel pump.
try disconnecting your negative battery post for 15 seconds to reset the vehicles computer, if this does not work ,adjust cable to the fuel injectors
Checking for spark with CheckSpark is easy simply clip it on the wire and turn the engine over, Then check the lights, Green light means spark plug and wire are good, yellow light indicates a bad plug or wire, Red means no spark at all, and flashing red indicates low spark, plug short or flooded condition. CheckSpark actually evaluates the spark. So move from wire to wire read the lights and you could be done in less time than it took to read this. It's safe, simple and fast. You can get them on e-bay. Works on all engines with plugs and wires, new or old big or small.
The easiest and fast way to reach the rear plugs is to remove the wiper cowling. Should only take about 10-15 minutes to remove. Will make the job a whole lot easier! See "Related Questions" below.
