And when they grow their antlers long enough, they sometimes rub them against trees to rub the "leather" off their antlers.

They can be used as a method of attacking predators and defending themselves...

Also when fighting to be the leader of the pack or whatever...males usually fight for dominance...and the antlers usually help (;

The purpose of a Caribou's antlers is when the males are fighting (to win a female), they lock antlers. They repetedly ram into each others antlers until one caribou gives up. They win the female with strong altlers.

The elk has its antlers to intimidate any smaller elk. Theyare also used to fight other elk that are the same size
