Beaver Scouts are a division of scouting for boys too young for Cub Scouts, often down to the age of 5. They are mostly active by that name in the UK and Canada and are called Castors (French for beaver) in French speaking provinces of Canada.

Scouting in France is governed by several different organizations so this is a more difficult matter to discuss in that country. At least one of the French organizations, Scouts de France, does offer what they consider to be the equivalent of Beaver Scouts called Sarabandes.

Similar sections are in other countries under other names:

Australia has Joeys.

New Zealand has Keas.

Switzerland has unofficial groups called Beaver Scouts, Fünkli, Füchse or Murmeli.

The U.S. has a Tiger Cub program for 1st grade/ 6 year old Scouts. They are testing the idea of Lion Scouts for Kindergarteners (5 years old).
