There are two types of metamorphosis, the direct or also call incomplete as the one of the grasshopper where the adult grasshopper lay eeggs and the eggs develop into a Nymph that moult several times till they become an adult grasshopper. It is also the complete metamorphosis like the one of the Butterfly. In this one the Adult Butterfly lay eggs. The egg develop a larva. That larva become a Pupa ( chrysalis stage ). Finally the Adult Butterfly is form inside the pupa so it gets out. That adult butterfly lay eggs to reproduce so the cycle starts again.
Metamorphosis in butterflies:
Butterflies and moths go through a life cycle known as complete metamorphosis. The stages of their life cycle include: egg, larva, pupa, and adult.
Ants have COMPLETE metorphosis, they start with eggs, then to larva, pupa, then to an adult.
No. Metamorphosis happens in amphibians and some invertebrates, not mammals.
YES,Lizard has an incomplete metamorphosis.(no change of form, appearance & character.
Complete and Gradual metamorphosis.
Two types of metamorphosis are complete metamorphosis and incomplete metamorphosis. In complete metamorphosis, organisms go through four distinct stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. In incomplete metamorphosis, organisms go through three stages: egg, nymph, and adult.
The two types are complete/complex metamorphosis and simple/gradual/direct metamorphosis. In the latter, the transformation is subtle while in the former, every stage of the life cycle is significantly different from the other.
Metamorphosis is a developmental process specially important in Insects. It is of 2 basic types 1; incomplete metamorphosis (Hemimetabolous & Paurometabolous ) and 2; complete metamorphosis ( Holometabolous ) . Incomlete metamorphosis takes place in Grasshoppers and dragon flies. there are 3 stages in it i.e. 1 ; egg , 2 ; nymph or niad (small immature winglees simillar to adult , in same habitat and eating same food.) and 3; adult. Complete metamorphosis takes place in butterflies etc. and involves 4 stages ie. 1 ; egg 2; larva ( it is motile and feeding ) 3 ; pupa ( it is non motile and non feeding ) and 4 ; adult.
Scientifically, many types of insects and amphibians, and of course sea creatures, would be able to survive through metamorphosis. There are really no other types of animals that have been proven to undergo metamorphosis so those would be the only ones.
