What kinds of food do Baptist people eat?
The only real restriction when feeding Baptists is that (in general) Baptists don't drink. Recipes that include alcohol are usually edited to substitute something else.As a Southern Baptist, my church held dinners each week. Casseroles, fried chicken, chicken fried steak, macaroni and cheese, watermelon, red velvet cake, that gross marshmallow and jello stuff, basically anything you'd find at a school potluck is included. You're probably good with any kind of homestyle, American cuisine.in Texas, our churches almost always have Texas Sheet Cake at a potluck. Of course, we just call it "sheet cake." A good recipe is below:Ingredients:2 cups all-purpose flour2 cups sugar1 teaspoon baking soda1/4 teaspoon salt1 cup butter1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder2 eggs1/2 cup buttermilk or sour milk1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla.Chocolate Frosting:1/4 cup butter3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa3 tablespoons buttermilk2 1/4 cups sifted confectioners' sugar1/2 teaspoon vanilla1/2 cup chopped pecans, optionalPreparation:Cake Grease a 15X10X1-inch or jelly roll pan or a 13X9X2-inch baking pan; set aside.
