There was until late 2009 when the Government of Nova Scotia declared that they wouldn't subsidize the ferry, which ultimately costing the Town of Yarmouth 100s of jobs. The entire Southern quarter of Nova Scotia is devastated. However, a new cruise ferry service, Nova Star Cruises, began operating in May, 2014. For more information see novastarcruises.com.
The distance between the above places is approximately equal to 117 nautical miles. To convert miles to nautical miles, multiply the miles by 0.86. This is point to point straight distance. The actual distance will change according to the route.
Most would probably drive, using interstate 95 to the Canadian border at Woodstock, New Brunswick, then NB highway 2 to the Nova Scotia border. Alternatively, you can take Maine highway 9 from Bangor, or coastal highway 1, to the Canadian border at St. Stephen NB, then NB highway 1 via Saint John toward NS. The I95 route is longer by distance but a bit shorter time-wise. There's also a ferry from Saint John to Nova Scotia's Annapolis Valley. (There were ferries that travelled from Portland and Bar Harbor ME to Yarmouth NS but these are not currently operating. There's still hope a ME-NS ferry service will be reinstated.) There are not currently any direct flights from Maine to NS. The nearest US airport with direct flights to Halifax is Boston.

1176 but you will need a ferry or boat of some sort and/or aiplane
About 7 hours and 11 minutes[1] There is also a ferry from Bar Harbor to Yarmouth, NS, but this will probably take longer.
The most quick way, which avoids a lot of New Brunswick is going down the Annapolis Valley way (about 233 kms, 145 miles), then getting on the Saint John Ferry. Going from Saint John to the border (Calais, Maine) about 114 kms (71 miles). Then Calais, Maine to Bangor, Maine is another 157 kms (98 miles). Then from Bangor, Maine to Portland, Maine it's another 207 kms (129 miles). Halifax, Nova Scotia -> Ferry (233 kms) (145 miles) Saint John, New Brunswick -> Calais, Maine (114 kms) (71 miles) Calais, Maine -> Bangor, Maine (157 kms) (98 miles) Bangor, Maine -> Portland, Maine (207 kms) (129 miles) All in all, you'll probably be driving for a good 11 hours. You'll probably rack up a good 800 kms (497 miles).
We only have 1 city, well one recognized city. Halifax. However the town of Digby is actually the closest to Maine in travel time. From Digby Nova Scotia you can take the ferry (boat) to St. John New Brunswick and then drive to the US border and into Maine.
Some interesting spots to visit in Maine include Acadia National Park for beautiful coastal views and outdoor activities, Portland for its charming waterfront area and vibrant food scene, and Bar Harbor for quaint shops and seafood restaurants near the water.
Drive South on the 101 from Halifax to Digby. Get on the Ferry to New Brunswick (check out the princess of Acadia website for schedule) and drive south to the main border.
Yes you can but you have to take a plane from sydney Australia to nova scotia then take the ferry.
Sydney is the port city in eastern Nova Scotia where you can catch a ferry to Newfoundland. The Marine Atlantic ferry service operates from Sydney to Port aux Basques, Newfoundland. It's a convenient way to travel between the two provinces by sea.
its about a half hour drive to sydney ns
