Pepper spray is not legal in Canada. It is considered to be a prohibited weapon and is only carried by those authorized to such as police officers, peace officers, etc. Bear and canine spray are legal; however, they are not to be used on humans. If you were to use bear or canine spray on a human and get caught you would most likely be prosecuted, although from what I understand this is considered on a case-by-case basis.

Don't listen to the previous answer. That person either has no idea what they were talking about or is just being sarcastic and unhelpful, most likely the second option.

Pepper spray is legal in all 50 states. Some states, such as Massachusettes and Wisconson, have laws limiting the concentration value & size of the container and how & where you can buy it. Washinton D.C. is the only state/district where you have to register your pepper spray canister with the local police. Some cities and counties might have other restrictions, but you would have to check with your local police or sherriff's department on what those would be.
