Paras is not a very good grass type Pokemon in leafgreen. It only learns a single offensive grass type move (giga drain) and it learns it at a very late level (in the late 40's, early 50's.) In addition to that, it is also part bug, making it 4x weak to flying and fire (all basic grass type weaknesses). A better option would be bellsprout, found north of Cerulean City.
