For more than thirty years, UK banks have issued cards for use with cheques. The card would guarantee payment of the cheque up to a specific amount (£30, £50 or £100) even if funds were not available in the account. It made cheque payments secure for retailers. The cards were either dedicated guarantee cards or they could be use as debit or credit cards, depending on the issuing bank. In 2012, the cheque guarantee scheme was ended and paper cheques are no longer guaranteed. This move is in line with the UK banks' plans to withdraw cheques completely in the coming years.
While it is difficult to guarantee the security of one's credit card, one can improve security by taking extra effort to ensure that one does not misplace the credit card, as well as promptly reporting any loss of the card to the card issuer.
Most business credit cards do come with a personal guarantee. There are, however, ways to get a business credit card that does not require a personal guarantee.
That decision is up to the credit card company. If the corporation is relatively new or had no credit history, the credito card company might demand that you personally guarantee the debt and you will need to have a credit check. If you have been in business a long time, the credit card company MIGHT not require a personal credit check.

It depends. It is not mandatory for retail shop owners to accept payment by means of a cheque because there is no guarantee that the cheque will get paid. What if you don't have enough funds in your account and the cheque gets rejected? So shop owners might demand payment through cash or through a credit card for groceries. However, if the show owner is someone you know personally and they trust you, they can accept payment by cheque. It is their judgment and decision whether they want to do it or not.
