Probably.It depends upon whether there is a mesh floor as degus are prone to bumble foot so shouldn't be living on a mesh floor?Also it depends upon the cages materials and construction.Degus are very efficient chewers and if its not metal they most likely will be able to chew it with results of degus escaping and/or needing medical help due to ingestion of materials that they shouldn't ingest and cannot digest.
