No, KISS is not a punk rock band. KISS is a glam rock band.
Answer
No, KISS is not a punk rock band nor is KISS a glam rock band. Punk and glam were both British phenomena that American artists like KISS tried to emulate.
Answer
Yeah...check your history. Punk rock began in the U.S. The Stooges, the Ramones, the New York Dolls, etc. were all releasing albums 3 to 5 years before the Sex Pistols, the Damned, the Clash, etc. even met each other. You really can't argue that punk rock began in England, because it obviously didn't. The timeline proves otherwise.
Glam rock did arguably begin in England with David Bowie. But that really has nothing to do with whether or not KISS is a glam rock band. The fact that KISS didn't start glam rock doesn't mean they aren't a glam rock band. They dress up in costumes and makeup and their performances are flashy and showy. That makes them glam rock.
In fact, they are the archetypal glam rock band. If you ask someone to name a glam rock band, the first words out of their mouth are almost invariably either, "KISS" or "David Bowie."
Answer
no they're hard rock
Answer
Sure, it would be fair to call them hard rock as well. But they are still first and foremost a glam rock band. I mean, just Google, "KISS glam rock." I'm not the only person who calls them glam rock. Most everybody else in the world does, too. The fact that this one person -- our second answerer -- disagrees does not make it untrue.
Answer
1967, John's Children - first punk band. Also, the originator of glam was Marc Bolan - English. They are not glam because glam was effeminate. Categorising them because they wear makeup is stupid as glam was more about the performance and the songs.
Answer
Yeah...no. The MC5 were already up and running in 1964. And the Stooges formed at virtually the same time John's Children did.
Again, the timeline just does not add up. The very first punk bands were the MC5 and the Stooges from Detroit, and the first punk scene got started in around 1971 in New York City. And none of these bands were even remotely influenced by John's Children.
Malcolm McLaren was hanging out in New York watching these bands. He even tried to manage the New York Dolls. When he failed, he brought punk to England and sold it there. And it sold.
This is not just my personal view; if you do some reading on punk history, you will find that what I'm saying is the commonly accepted truth.
And you can think whatever you want about KISS, but most people consider KISS to be a glam rock band. And again, the fact that they didn't invent glam rock doesn't mean they aren't glam rock. Again, just Google it.
If you want to have fringe opinions about music, then you're free to do so. But you have to recognize that most people do not agree with you. "KISS is not a glam rock band" may be the right answer to YOU, but that doesn't make it the Lord's gospel truth...or even the commonly accepted truth.

Reading Born To Rock? No They are not, at least not to a giant magnitude. I'm sure there is a punk rock band called Purge somewhere out there.
Most of the hit singles are pop-punk, most of their other songs are punk rock or some are pop-punk. All their music can simply be called alternative, indie, or rock.
