Depends on where you live. Closer to the midwest, like Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, much cheaper than gas, the farther away from there, the more expensive.

Typically the break even point to run E85 vs gas is $0.60 a gallon, if you aren't at LEAST that amount difference, then it isn't cost effective to run.

Usually, E85 is cheaper than gasoline, primarily because ethanol is less expensive to produce than gasoline. However, the cost of E85 can vary depending on location, demand, and government subsidies. It is advisable to check current prices at fuel stations to determine the cost effectiveness of using E85.

As for typical tailpipe measured emissions, E85 is % better for the environment. Even 10% ethanol (or gasahol) fuels are a % better.

E85 or E100 (pure ethanol) has more O2 present in the fuel and has significantly less CO emissions that pure gasoline or 10% ethanol gasoline.

E85 or E100 has a the same or slightly higher HC emissions than pure gasoline.

Typically NOx emissions are on par with gasoline fueled vehicles.

As for non typical measured tailpipe emissions, I have not seen conclusive data on other emissions emitted from the tailpipe.

Sort of but not exactly. E85 means that the gasoline contains up to but not exceeding 85% ethanol (usually, though, it's pretty close to 85%; no one markets E10 (up to 10% ethanol) as E85 even though technically it is "up to but not exceeding 85% ethanol"). So all E85 gas is"gas with ethanol", but not all "gas with ethanol" is E85 gas.

An analogy may help: Are dogs the same as Chihuahuas? All chihuahuas are dogs, but not all dogs are chihuahuas.
