If you are not in a gang and if you do not purchase illicit drugs within the city limits, you'll be fine. It's not exactly Medellin, Baghdad, or Grozny.) There are a lot of good hotels in Detroit. Most are clustered in the downtown area around Woodward and Jefferson Ave. That's a safe and walkable area. Extended stay hotels are going to be located in the inner-ring suburbs. Chances are, if you are booking a hotel yourself or if your business is putting you up at a hotel, you'll be staying in a nice area and will have an enjoyable time.
