I usually band around 6 to 8 months. But if you can get their nads thru the tool and a band around both of them, you can do it at pretty much any age.

In some countries, only a veterinarian can castrate an animal over six months of age and a general anaesthetic is required - most farmers put elastrator rings on their buck kids when they give them their first vaccination so that when you give them their second vaccination at weaning, at 12-14 weeks of age, you can check to see that everything has healed up properly. It also depends on whether you are going to keep the wether as a pet or not.

Depending on growth and condition, optimal age is 8-10 months.

Should always be determined by the owner, not the buck.
