It' s a subjective question.
A serving size is typically considered to be 1/2 cup of cooked pasta.
The USDA recommends 6 - 11 servings per day of grains (including pasta)
with 3 meals per day containing grains then 1 - 3 cups could be considered per meal, but this is dependent on the size and activity level of the person eating it as well. A portion size is not a serving size. A small person weighing 120 lbs. may only have a portion size of 2-3 servings or 1 - 1.5 cups, where as a professional football player weighing 250 lbs. might eat a portion of 6 servings or 3 cups per meal.
Typically, when I make pasta, I expect a person to eat approximately 2 cups If it is a main dish and 1 cup if it is a side dish. I hope this helps.
In my opinion, if your serving along side other food, you should assume 1 serving per person. One serving of pasta is generally 1/4 a cup of dry pasta. Therefore you should cook 17.5 cups of dry pasta, for your pasta salad.
It always helps in this type of question if you say it is a main meal or a starterAs a main pasta dish I would usually start with 4 oz of dry pasta per person. With the swelling of pasta and sauce, this will become 12-14 ounces of food per serving. A pasta salad can be just a starter or a main dish. - As a starter salad use 2 oz dry per person.
You need approximately 150 grams of cooked (i.e finished) pasta salad per person, depending upon what else they will be eating. (If they're not eating anything else, probably closer to 175-250 grams of finished pasta salad per person). Dried pasta tends to weigh 2.5-3 times it's initial weight when it's cooked. This means that you need around 23-30 kg of uncooked pasta total, depending on how much of the pasta salad will be veg and sauce, how hungry you're expecting people to be, how much other food they're being fed etc... Good luck.
A good amount of pasta salad for 40 people would be 5 pounds total... just had a party for 40 people and that's what we had, and there was just a bit left over
3 to 5 pounds per person in the south with pasta could use less
You would need about 1/4 a pound of chicken salad per person. That will be 17.5 pounds of chicken salad for 70 people.
Generally speaking, 5 lbs of potato salad will fee 30 people. 12 people would be a little over half of that, so around 2.5 lbs of potato salad.
I eat approximately 8 ounces of salad every day. I make many different salads and like them all.
That is 3/4 pound of pasta.
Pasta costs £1.00-£2.00 per kg.
60 grams of dry pasta will cookout to weigh about 100 grams
Depends on how many ounces you are serving per person.
